Elizabeth Carner

Role: Wellness Counselor

Elizabeth Carner has been working with children, youth, and families in schools, private clinics, and nonprofit settings as a Case Manager, Interim Supervisor, Facilitator and Associate since 2008. Elizabeth entered the San Mateo Union High School District as an English Learner Specialist at San Mateo HS before transitioning to her position as the Wellness Counselor at the Bridge Academy. She always approaches her work through a culturally responsive and student centered lens.  Elizabeth is drawn to mental health and wellness work by her desire to help youth become their best selves by developing a sense of confidence and agency. She believes in the power of community, collaboration and healing and sees her role as helping students experience high school and young adulthood while navigating their social-emotional development. 

Elizabeth grew up in Southern California and received her BA of Social Work from (CSULB) and her Masters of Social Work from (SJSU). While at CSULB, Elizabeth served as the President of the Associated Students of Social Work which fostered her passion for working with leaders to make systemic changes so students are served better. She currently holds an AMSW and is working toward her LCSW.
